Straw hat pirates Luffy-and-Zoro-Using-Haki

In the universe of One Piece, Haki has considerable power. Which Straw Hat Pirate crew members have access to this power?

There are numerous paths to becoming a formidable fighter in the world of One Piece. Scientific developments, Devil Fruit talents, and novel battle strategies such as the World Government’s Six Powers are all potential possibilities. Those who aspire to one day conquer the entire Grand Line, on the other hand, must first master one thing: Haki. Haki is essentially spiritual power that dwells within all One Piece characters, but only a handful are able to consciously manage and harness it.

In One Piece, there are three broad types of Haki: Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s, each of which is further subdivided. Unsurprisingly, the Straw Hat Pirates include five Haki users, the majority of whom are adept at using this power. Their combined powers have already played a significant influence in their post-timeskip climb to prominence. The team will very definitely continue to hone their Haki-related skills as they deploy its many forms in the future.

5. Usopp

Usopp-With-His-Slingshot

Usopp has traditionally proven to be the least powerful of the Straw Hat Pirates, often being pitted against the weakest members of enemy armies. This is why people have questioned if Usopp even has Haki in the first place. However, as the plot of One Piece has developed, so have the cheeky sniper’s sharpshooting powers. Usopp, along with Jinbe, Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy, is one of only five Straw Hat Pirates that can utilise Observation Haki. He can now hit targets significantly more effectively than before.

During the conflict between the Straw Hat Pirates and the Donquixote Pirates, Usopp was forced to snipe Sugar, one of the crew’s executives. Unfortunately, he was a long way from his destination, and a variety of buildings, objects, and people were in his way. Usopp succeeded in seeing his target’s aura by waking his Observation Haki, allowing him to hit his target and aid in the takedown of the nefarious Doflamingo.

4. Sanji

Vinsmoke-Sanji-1

The Straw Hat Pirates are all strong fighters, but when it comes to combat, Luffy, Zoro, Jinbe, and Sanji are head and shoulders above the rest of the crew. As a result, it stands to reason that the final member of this foursome would have a high level of Armament and Observation Haki. Although his genetic changes as a member of the Vinsmoke Family are deadly on their own, they are greatly augmented by Sanji’s Haki abilities. Finally, these qualities are what allow the world-class chef to defeat a gigantic adversary like the Queen of the Beast Pirates on his own.

The two-year time jump in One Piece was not kind to Sanji, who spent over 24 months avoiding the people of Kamabakka Kingdom while away from the Straw Hat Pirates. However, in the process, he gained the capacity to employ Observation Haki consciously, allowing him to remain on high alert at all times. While in Kamabakka Kingdom, Sanji most likely unlocked the ability to utilise Armament Haki, as he nearly immediately used it to fight a Pacifista upon getting back to Sabaody Archipelago.

3. Jinbe

Jinbe-2

Jinbe, the newest member of the Straw Hat Pirates, is one of the Thousand Sunny’s most experienced combatants. During the Wano Country arc, the helmsman joins Monkey D. Luffy’s crew. Prior to this arc, though, he was the captain of the Sun Pirates. Jinbe’s tenure as a captain eventually led to his becoming one of the Warlords of the Sea, a position that allowed him to regularly practise his usage of both Armament and Observation Haki. Jinbe’s talent as a Haki user was on display during his encounter with Who’s Who of the Beast Pirates, as he was eventually able to beat the Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit user by infusing his Fish-Man Karate skills with his Armament Haki.

Fans don’t know when or how Jinbe learnt Haki, unlike the other Haki users in the Straw Hat Pirates. Two years before the events of One Piece, the skilled fisherman utilised Armament Haki to defeat Portgas D. Ace, bypassing the Logia-type Devil Fruit user’s innate defences. While it seems improbable that Jinbe learnt to utilise Haki during Fisher Tiger’s life, he almost surely did so prior to his appointment as a Warlord of the Sea.

2. Roronoa Zoro

Zoro-cuts-Pica

Roronoa Zoro is the Straw Hat Pirates’ resident swordsman and is only second in power to Luffy. He, like his captain, has the ability to employ all three forms of Haki. Given his ambition to become the World’s Strongest Swordsman, Zoro must acquire the perfect Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s Haki if he is to overcome Dracule Mihawk. Zoro is already very competent in the use of Armament and Conqueror’s Haki, thus he’s not far from achieving his lifelong dream.

Dracule Mihawk trained Roronoa Zoro on Kurainaga Island during the two-year time jump in One Piece. The great swordsman’s teaching concentrated mostly on Armament Haki. Zoro, on the other hand, was consciously able to employ both Observation and Armament Haki by the end of their time together. However, it’s possible that he developed these powers much earlier. The Wano Country Arc revealed that Zoro’s Ashura technique, first utilised during the Enies Lobby Arc, is derived from his dormant Conqueror’s Haki. This, along with his defeat of Daz Bones in Alabasta Kingdom, could be the first time any of the Straw Hat Pirates has employed Haki – an incredible feat for such an illustrious crew.

1. Luffy

Luffy-Haki

Monkey D. Luffy, as one of the strongest pirates in the universe of One Piece, uses all three forms of Haki. By the completion of the Wano Country Arc, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates has advanced to the level of his fellow Emperors of the Sea in Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s Haki. Luffy can glimpse the future with his Observation Haki; he can radiate his power over short distances with his Armament Haki; and he can even coat his attacks with the power of a genuine King with his Conqueror’s Haki.

Although Monkey D. Luffy learnt to utilise Haki mainly from Silvers Rayleigh, he initially awoke it multiple arcs prior the series’ time skip. Duval and his pet bull, Motobaro, confronted Luffy during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, unwittingly triggering the Supernova’s Conqueror Haki to erupt. Over the next two years, the Straw Hat Captain mastered the advanced techniques of each Haki type, making him one of just two One Piece characters (the other being Kaido) to do so.
