Black-Clover-Liebe-Licita-Asta

How plausible is it that Asta’s father is none other than Julius Novachrono, as claimed in a well-known Black Clover fan theory?

The final major arc of Black Clover is underway, and the action couldn’t be more thrilling. A tale that was moderately mystical to start has evolved into something profoundly supernatural. Gods have already been introduced, the Magic Knights Captains have either died or are about to die, and dead people even have been brought back to life to torture their loved ones.

The series’ many unsolved mysteries, such as Yami Sukehiro’s origins in the Land of the Sun, have also been clarified by this arc. The true identity of Asta’s father is one issue that has not yet been resolved. One fan theory suggests that this arc may be resolving the unsolved riddle with the assertion that Asta’s father is the Wizard King himself.

Julius Novachrono Could Be Asta's Father, Here's Why

This fan theory’s main concept revolves around the idea that Julius Novachrono might be the sole viable option for Asta’s paternal line. Licita, His mother, was a human with the uncontrolled and persistent ability to drain the magic and life energy from anyone around her. She was compelled to reside in a village’s outskirts as a result, and it appeared that she interacted with people very little.

Liebe, a demon who was (unintentionally) hurled out of Hell and finds himself in the human world, was the only person she was able to interact with at all. Furthermore, Liebe’s lack of magic—instead possessing Anti-Magic—was what allowed Licita to interact with him. When he acquired the five-leaf clover grimoire, she coincidentally subsequently empowered her own son after adopting him as her son.

How Licita gave birth to Asta, much alone conceive him in the first place, is difficult to imagine. She actually left him at the chapel in Hage Village because she was so terrified that she might kill him. Her physique was somewhat similar to Anti-Magic, which has so far been demonstrated to neutralise all but the most powerful magic users. Julius Novachrono fits into the theory in this way. Because of Licita’s physiology, she could only have conceived Asta if she had him with someone who possessed a great deal of magic and life energy, both of which Julius possesses in excess.

After Asta obtained his second blade, Julius briefly asked him if he could handle it. The Wizard King was essentially unmoved by it, except from being unable to use it at all and having his magic drained due to his enormous magical energy reserves. He also appeared to be aware of Asta’s special circumstance, though he made no mention of how he learned of it.

While it might have been because he showed interest in Asta while acting suspiciously at a bar, it might also have been a strategically placed hint as to how he might have been involved in his conception. Julius’ life force is also probably twice as strong as anybody else’s, therefore making it even more probable that he would be able to withstand Licitia’s condition. Julius is a being that combines two individual souls into one body.

How Likely Is This Popular Black Clover Theory?

The theory becomes a little hazy at this point. Manga readers are aware that Julius Novachrono, or at least a part of him, is the last and oldest Zogratis brother. Lucius Zogratis was born with the ability to use soul magic and a second soul that belonged to Julius Novachrono. They journey to the Clover Kingdom after accepting Astaroth’s role as host, where Lucius appears to give Julius possession of their body. From there, Julius manages to secretly use a devil’s magic rather than his own in order to become the Wizard King, a Magic Knight Captain, and even a member of a noble family.

Although the claim that Julius was one of the few individuals who could conceive with Licita is possible, it also suggests that Julius “made” Asta as a tool to use towards Lucius, which seems a bit improbable. Even if there are two souls residing in the same body, Lucius seems to be the one in charge because Julius was unaware of Lucius’ presence until he was taken over. In fact, it seemed as though Lucius had locked up their Soul Magic for himself and had only given Julius access to Time Magic.

Therefore, the idea that he could be a weapon that Julius Novachrono could employ against Lucius seems at best improbable, but other hypotheses suggest alternate possibilities. One in particular claims that Lucius and Julius’s bodies had been taken over by Astaroth, who may have been Asta’s father. As was previously demonstrated, not all contracts with devils appear to be mutually agreeable, thus it’s plausible that Astaroth managed to seize power for a little period of time in order to produce something that would protect him from Lucius.

It’s best to not place too much stock in fan theories, as is the case with all of them. Though Asta’s rematch with Lucius may be imminent, fans may anticipate learning quite soon whether this particular idea contains a grain of reality. Furthermore, any information about Asta’s father will undoubtedly be a major development in Black Clover.
